Young Leaders Program
The Young Leaders Program is for young people aged 16 – 25 years who live, work or study in the City of Greater Dandenong. The program provides a unique opportunity for participants to increase their participation in the local community, learn leadership skills and to meet and work with like minded individuals.
What does the program involve?
Throughout the program, participants focus on learning and developing their leadership skills across a wide range of topics including goal setting, communication, public speaking, advocacy, project planning and development.
Research and development of community projects
Participants will be supported to use the skills they develop to research, plan, deliver and evaluate community projects based on identified community needs. By working in a team to develop and deliver community projects, participants will gain a better understanding of their personal leadership style and how it influences their decision making.
Please note: Young Leaders is a voluntary program - which means that you don't get paid. As the sessions run at dinner time, participants will be provided with something to eat and drink at weekly meetings. Participants will also be provided with lots of opportunities including interacting with councillors, engaging with state and federal governments, working with other organisations and the wider community.
When and where does the program run?
The 2018 Young Leaders program will commence week beginning Monday 16 April and will run from 4.30pm - 6.30pm. The weekly meetings will be held at 39 Clow Street, Dandenong
